At Tidmarsh, we are proud to combine traditional craftsmanship with modern expertise, helping to preserve the character of some of the UK’s most treasured buildings. One of our favourite projects took us to Holmwood House, a remarkable National Trust property in Scotland, where we were tasked with recreating bespoke blinds that reflect the home’s 19th-century heritage.
The challenge was to design and install blinds that would complement the original style, first introduced in the 1800s. To achieve this, we crafted cedar blinds, carefully painted in a deep green to echo the building’s historic design. Every detail was considered to remain faithful to the period, ensuring the new blinds felt entirely at home in their surroundings while offering lasting performance.
Due to the property’s unique structure, we shipped the slats and headrails separately, before assembling and fitting them directly into the windows on site. This bespoke approach allowed us to respect the architecture while delivering a flawless finish, blending authenticity with functionality.
