Fabrics and Colours
Fabric is the part of a blind or curtain everyone actually sees, and it decides almost everything about how a room feels. The same window can be softened or sharpened, warmed or cooled, made into a design feature or made to disappear entirely, depending on what you hang at it. Tidmarsh hold an extensive range of blind and curtain fabrics, from plain weaves and textures to bold patterns, so whether you want your window dressing to lead the room or quietly support it, there is a material that does the job.
How a fabric performs matters as much as how it looks. Blackout fabrics block light almost entirely, which makes them the obvious choice for bedrooms, nurseries and media rooms. Dim-out fabrics soften daylight without shutting it out completely, and screen fabrics filter glare while keeping your view and natural light, which suits home offices, kitchens and rooms with a lot of glazing. Moisture-resistant fabrics are made for bathrooms and kitchens, and our fire-rated range covers applications where regulations require it. We are happy to advise on the right choice for each room during your survey, so nothing is decided on a small sample in the wrong light.

The Blinds Experts
Why Choose Tidmarsh?
Choosing blinds for your home involves more decisions than most people expect, from fabric weight and light control to how a blind stacks, hangs and operates day to day. Tidmarsh has been making handmade, bespoke blinds since 1828, and nearly 200 years of made to measure work is what earns us the title of blind experts. Every blind is measured, manufactured and fitted by our own team from our Essex workshop, so you deal with the people who make your blinds rather than a middleman.
Blind making today goes well beyond craftsmanship in wood, metal and fabric. It calls for considered design, precision engineering, and real expertise in electronics and materials, particularly on motorised and smart home blinds that need to run silently and reliably for years. It also calls for the ability to work alongside architects and interior designers, contributing to a scheme rather than simply supplying to it. That practical knowledge, built up over generations of bespoke blind installations in period homes, new builds and commercial projects across the UK, is what protects the quality of the finished result.
